Death & Transfiguration

“Death and Transfiguration” is an intimate summer recital exploring music that confronts mortality, transformation, and renewal. Through a thoughtfully curated program of art song and opera arias, mezzo-soprano Maureen Mihalik traces an emotional journey from unrequited love and uncertainty toward the fulfillment of love and transcendence.

The first half moves between stillness, grief, inward reflection, and the restless awakening of desire. After intermission, three settings of Emily Dickinson turn toward memory, exclusion, and the fragility of the body before the program enters the operatic worlds of Charlotte and Carmen.
